Office of Research Integrity (ORI)
"The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) promotes integrity in biomedical and behavioral research supported by the U. S. Public Health Service (PHS) at about 4,000 institutions worldwide. ORI monitors institutional investigations of research misconduct and facilitates the responsible conduct of research through educational, preventive, and regulatory activities." (ORI homepage, 2005).
A similar institution in Denmark is The Danish Committees on Scientific Dishonesty (Udvalgene Vedrørende Videnskabelig Uredelighed) (UVVU).
In Denmark there was in 2003 a controversy concerning Bjørn Lomborg’s book “The Skeptical Environmentalist”, which also gave rise to a debate of which role institutions like ORI and DCSD should play in the future.
