your student card number as borrowers' ID. You can find the code
and password at Studienettet; look under
'Personlig profil'. If You do not find a code please contact the library.
The library is a public library. Students and employees at the
Royal School of Library and Information Science with a permanent
residence in Denmark or southern Sweden can register and loan
books. (Danish civil registration number (CPR) must be shown at the
final registration).

the homepage for special closing
days.
How can I contact the library?
You can contact the library via e-mail dbilaan@iva.dk or phone (+45) 3234
1442.
Where can I find the library?
The Library's address is:
Birketinget 6, 2300 Copenhagen S.
The library is situated at the C-wing of the building, on the 2nd
floor.
I have changed my address, who do I tell?
You have to inform the student administration office of your move
AND the library. Remember to keep your email data
updated, as this address is used to send information on recall
notices etc. Just login to the
catalogue and update.
Can I renew loans and place holds myself?
Yes, if you log in to the
library catalogue in the top right hand corner with your
Studentcard number and PIN. To renew your loans please press the
link to "loan" and use the "Renew" button. To place a hold on a
book, conduct a search that retrieves the specific book, and have
the full record displayed with all holdings. You can then place a
hold by clicking on the hand icon "request". Please note that it is
not possible to place holds on books which are not on loan, also it
is not possible to place holds on our journals and any articles
placed in "Shelfmark: Nordisk BDI-indeks."
What is Nordisk BDI-indeks?
If the shelfmark is marked Nordisk BDI-Indeks the post is
a part of a bibliographic database of Scandinavia
LIS-litterature. The base is a separate base in the catalogue. The
update ended in 2007.
How do I get copies of printed materials?
Any journals we have here can be copied for free at the library. If
you need to copy other materials use your student card and a xerox
machine in the student areas.
How do I read the shelfmarks?
If it says 'Udlånssamling' it means that
you can borrow this book and most likely find it in room C2.06 i.e.
the library. The typical shefmark is for instance: '65.01
Ev'. The numbers are the actual shelfmark and the letters
are the two first letters from the title of the book. You will
typically also see '(C2.06)' in the line og this
means that the book is in the room C2.06 - the actual library. An
other frequent note is '/Bf-magasin (C
underetage)' - with means that the book is in the basement
below the library etc.
How will I be notified when my books are
available?
When books that you have placed a hold on, or ordered through
interlibrary loan, are available for you to pick up, the library
will notify you via e-mail.
Do I get recall notices via e-mail?
Yes. If you registered an email address to your borrowers card, all
notices from the library will be sent by email. Make sure our
information is updated.
Can I access electronic journals and databases from
home?
Yes, students and staff at Royal School of Library and Information
Science (IVA) have this opportunity. Access is provided through the
DEFF-catalogue.
The user ID and PIN are identical to the ones you use for the
library catalogue and can be seen on Studienettet. Please note that
you must select 'Det Informationsvidenskabelige Akademi' (Royal
school of Library and Information Science) as organization.

in. Or you can use the remote access as described here on the list of databases.
